Acid reflux

Heartburn or acid regurgitation refers undigested materials into the back of the mouth & throat. This is generally less than pleasant.

Causes of Heartburn:

(a) Food stagnating in the stomach

This is a common cause of heartburn. Food ferments in the stomach and becomes acidic. Often anti-acid medication is taken. This helps with immediate symptoms but long-term usage can be damaging for the stomach.

(b) Excessive cold and raw food

Our digestive systems require warmth in order to digest and metabolize food. Digestion is damaged by over consumption of cold & raw food, (Ice cold drinks, raw foods right out of the fridge) this can damage the qi of the stomach.

© Long-term emotional strain

Unmanaged stress can lead to digestive problems.

Acupuncture can stimulate healthy digestion and assimilation, redirecting the energy and increasing your body’s ability to digest. Changes in lifestyle and/or dietary habits may also be recommended.

I would also recommend visiting your GP since some conditions can be very serious (e.g. stomach ulcers).
